What is the Pre-Graduate Summer Program?
The Pre-Graduate Summer Program is a 10-week intensive program designed to prepare you for fall admission to the Masters of Arts in Interior Design or Graphic Design programs at The New England School of Art & Design at Suffolk University.
back to top^Is the Pre-Graduate Program right for me?
If you are interested in pursuing a Masters of Arts in Interior or Graphic Design, but you don’t have a visual arts background or the portfolio required to apply, the Pre-Graduate Program may be right for you! Once accepted into the Pre-Graduate Program you are “conditionally admitted” to the masters program. If you successfully complete the program, you’ll be accepted into the masters program for the fall semester.
back to top^What does it mean to be a Pre-Graduate student?
Once you are admitted to the Pre-Graduate program you will be considered “conditionally admitted master’s applicant” for the fall semester. However for the duration of the summer program you will have a Continuing Education student status. After successful completion of the program you will be admitted to the Masters of Arts in Interior or Graphic Design for Fall 2010.

You’ll take four courses: Drawing, Color, 2-Dimensional & 3-Dimensional Design, Perspective & Rendering (Interior Design only) and Imaging (Graphic Design only).
back to top^How much time should I expect to spend on coursework outside of class?
Students typically spend between 20-40 hours per week on coursework. The program is not advisable for those who intend to work full-time.

Are GRE test scores required to enter the Pre-Graduate Summer Program?
No, Students seeking admission to the Pre-Graduate Summer Program and the Master’s of Arts in Interior Design or Graphic Design are not required to submit GRE test scores.
back to top^What criteria are used to determine admission to the program?
Admission to the Pre-Graduate Program is based on an applicant’s undergraduate performance, work experience, essay and letters of recommendation.
back to top^What determines "successful completion" of the Pre-Graduate Program?
A student must successfully complete all four courses with a combined GPA of 3.0 and no grade below a B- in order to be accepted into the Master of Arts in Interior Design or Master of Arts in Graphic Design program.
back to top^What happens if I am not admitted to the Master’s program after completing the Pre-Graduate Program?
If you are denied admission to the Master’s program you may take courses as a Continuing Education student and reapply the following semester.
back to top^When is orientation, and what can I expect?
Orientation will be held Friday, June 4th from 9:00am to 5:00pm and attendance is mandatory. Breakfast and lunch will be served. You will have the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff, fellow students and former Pre-Graduate participants. The program requirements and timeline will be discussed in depth. You will have the opportunity to obtain a student I.D. card and locker and will tour the facilities. Orientation will culminate with a field trip to a local art store to purchase materials.

Yes, international students are encouraged to apply. If students do not successfully complete the Pre-Grad program the I-20 will be cancelled.
