Distinguished Endowed Chair: $3 million

A fully endowed chair represents a powerful affirmation of the University’s tradition of academic excellence. Suffolk University currently has only two distinguished endowed chairs, and the creation of each new, fully endowed distinguished chair will be a celebrated event on campus as well as a bold statement about the importance of academic excellence at the University. A senior chair, or distinguished chair, would allow Suffolk to recruit and retain professors who are exceptional leaders in their field, mentors, and first-rate teachers.

Endowed Chair: $1.5 million

The strength of Suffolk University resides in its faculty. The identification, recruitment, and support of the faculty are a major priority for the University. The endowment of a faculty chair is one way to respond to that priority and to allow Suffolk University to continue to provide a superb education to its students.

University Center: $1.5 million

Throughout the University there are faculty members who are experts in their field; centers allow students to benefit from interdisciplinary collaboration and research to reap the benefits of attending a diverse university such as Suffolk.

Law School Concentration: $1 million

The Law School’s academic concentrations—now in their tenth year—offer law students a variety of innovative opportunities for obtaining advanced training in a substantive field. The Law School’s current concentrations include: The Macaronis Civil Litigation Concentration, Financial Services, Health and Biomedical Law, Intellectual Property Law, and International Law.  Endowing an academic concentration ensures that Suffolk students benefit from the best training and internship opportunities available, further solidifying their experience in preparation for a career in legal practice.

Distinguished Visiting Professorship: $500,000

A gift for to establish a distinguished visiting professorship will allow Suffolk University to recognize exceptional achievement in teaching or research and to bring such scholars to campus so that Suffolk University students may benefit from their work. Those individuals selected as distinguished visiting professor are expected to make special contributions to the intellectual advancement of the school for which they are teaching, as well as to the institution as a whole.

Suffolk University has a long and distinguished history of providing opportunity to hardworking students who might not otherwise have the benefit of higher education. Scholarships represent a critical component of keeping that tradition alive. A fully endowed scholarship will live on in perpetuity at Suffolk, providing important financial support to deserving students year after year.

Trial Advocacy Competition Program: $400,000

Trial competition teams are an important aspect of skill development for students planning to become trial attorneys. These intense competitions include both regional and national competitions, and provide students an opportunity to hone their techniques against some of the best students in the country. Endowing this unique learning experience by offset coaching, training, and travel expenses will ensure this valuable program continues to be a strong component of a Suffolk legal education.

Clinical Law Programs: $300,000

Clinical law programs offer students opportunities to learn about the real practice of law while providing essential services to a population that is largely underserved by the profession. For many students, participation in this program is the turning point of their education, when they realize what it means to represent people who need their help. A wide variety of clinical programs exist, including the Prosecutors Program, Battered Women’s Clinic, Juvenile Justice Center, the Disability Clinic, and many more. Endowing one of these important programs ensures that Suffolk’s proud tradition of public service continues to be a strong component of a legal education at Suffolk Law School.

Professorship: $200,000

An endowed professorship position rewards excellence in teaching and scholarship to a faculty member at Suffolk who has sustained a high level of accomplishment. Endowing such an honor allows the University to continue to retain the finest professors in an extremely competitive market for talented scholars and teachers.

Centennial Scholarship: $50,000

Suffolk University has a long and distinguished history of providing opportunity to hardworking students who might not otherwise have had the benefit of higher education. A Centennial Scholarship celebrates Suffolk’s 100-year anniversary while preserving our tradition of access and opportunity. A fully endowed scholarship will live on in perpetuity at Suffolk, providing invaluable financial support to deserving students year after year. Library Acquisition Funds for Journals & Books: $25,000

Endowing a library acquisition at Suffolk University ensures that materials for the library will be purchased annually and the principal will be preserved in perpetuity. Naming an acquisition fund for an individual, or a foundation, is a unique way to bestow a gift of educational resources for the entire University community.  A bookplate would be placed in the acquisition to honor the person or foundation for which the acquisition is named.

Student Leadership Awards: $25,000

Students benefit from opportunities outside of the classroom to develop professionally and personally.  Student Leadership Awards will allow the University to recognize exceptional students who have demonstrated leadership qualities both in the classroom and in co-curricular activities.
