Professor Rosellini holds a B.A. (1969) and an M.A. (1972) in German and German Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Ph.D. (1976) in German Literature/German Studies from Indiana University at Bloomington. Before coming to Suffolk University, he taught at Haverford College, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Purdue University. He was a Visiting Professor at the the Universität Hamburg during the year of German (re-)unification (1989-90). At Suffolk, he teaches general humanities surveys and courses in German language, literature, civilization, environmentalism, and film. Professor Rosellini’s range of scholarly interest in German literature, drama, culture and intellectual history has resulted in numerous articles, book chapters and book reviews, as well as several books, including Wolf Biermann (Munich: Verlag C.H. Beck, 1992); Volker Braun (Munich: Verlag C. H. Beck, 1983); Thomas Müntzer im deutschen Drama: Verteufelung, Apotheose und Kritik (Bern/Frankfurt am Main/Las Vegas: Peter Lang, 1978), and most recently Literary Skinheads? Writing from the Right in Reunified Germany (West Lafayette: Purdue University Press, 2000), which received the 2002 German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Prize for Best Book in German Language and Literature, Cultural Studies and the Humanities. He is currently writing a book on contemporary Austrian culture and politics. Professor Rosellini was awarded a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship at Washington University (1977-78) and fellowships from the American Council of Learned Societies, the Fulbright Commission, the German Academic Exchange Service, the Germanistic Society of America, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. He was selected for inclusion in the 2004 and 2005 editions of Who’s Who among America’s Teachers.
