Program Description and Benefits

Today’s organizations are more involved in international business than ever before. This trend will continue as organizations compete in the global market to gain a competitive advantage. Thus, globalization is a critical factor affecting the management of human resources today. As more and more organizations globalize their products and processes, they will derive greater revenues from offshore operations. Human resources is expected to assume new roles and to prepare people for international assignments.

The Global Human Resources Certificate is designed to provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge, competencies, and best practices required to participate in the global environment. These include but are not limited to:

  • Acquisition of country-specific knowledge about economic, political, and social environments
  • How to address union and labor policies
  • Legal and regulatory requirements
  • Compensation and benefits
  • Aspects of conducting business outside the United States

Five (5) of the graduate credit courses from this program may be transferred to either the M.S. degree in Adult and Organizational Learning or the M.S. degree in Human Resources. The transfer of courses must occur prior to the completion of the certificate program.

The Graduate Global Human Resources Certificate enables you to pursue careers in a variety of organizational settings and markets/industries. If you are a mid- or high-level practitioner, the Global Human Resources Certificate will enable you to become a key player in the international human resources field while accelerating your career progression.

If you are in the early stages of your human resources career, the knowledge and competencies gained from this certificate program will allow you to assume a more responsible role involved with the global business environment.

Certificate Requirements

The Graduate Global Human Resources Certificate Program is an 18-credit program. Each course awards three graduate credits. The graduate credit courses in this program can be applied to the M.S. in Human Resources or the M.S. in Organizational Learning and Development.

Admission Requirements

The following is required for admission to the Graduate Global Human Resources Certificate Program:

  • A Bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited institution
  • Two letters of recommendation, preferably from employers or supervisors
  • Completion of the Graduate Application for Admission

Note: No test is required for admission to the Certificate Program.
