The course of study for the Middle School and Secondary School Teaching minors lead to Initial Licensure in Massachusetts and other states participating in the NASDTEC Certification Compact. Students major in a liberal arts discipline and minor in education. Students complete all required education courses, a pre-practicum, and a practicum appropriate to their specific program.

Procedure for Declaring a Minor

Application checklists are available from the Program Director.  Application packets should be submitted directly to the Program Director.  A formal acceptance into the middle and secondary education programs require a passing score on all relevant sections of the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure, currently the communication and literacy skills and subject matter tests, and a 3.0, or better, cumulative grade point average.
