Program Description and Benefits

The (CERT HR) Graduate Human Resources Certificate is designed to enhance your career opportunities and enable you to develop key competencies in:

  • Automated human resource information systems

Five (5) of the graduate credit courses from this program may be transferred to either the M.S. degree in Adult and Organizational Learning or the M.S. degree in Human Resources. The transfer of courses must occur prior to the completion of the certificate program.

The Graduate Human Resources Certificate enables you to pursue careers in a variety of organizational settings and markets/industries. If you are an experienced practitioner, the certificate will enable you to accelerate your career progression through the various human resources functions.

The Graduate Human Resources Certificate benefits you and your present/ future employer by:

Certificate Requirements

The Graduate Human Resources Certificate Program is an 18-credit (six-course) program. Each course awards three graduate credits.

The graduate credit courses in this program can be applied to the M.S. in Organizational Learning and Development or the M.S. in Human Resources.

Note: If you are enrolled for graduate academic credit and can demonstrate competency in one of the above courses, you may be able to replace one of the required courses with the following:

EHS 686 Contemporary Issues in Human Resources OR
EHS 687 Strategic Human Resources Planning OR
EHS 688 Virtual Human Resources

Admission Requirements

The following is required for admission to the Graduate Human Resources Certificate Program:

  • A Bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited institution
  • Two letters of recommendation, preferably from employers or supervisors
  • Completion of the Graduate Application for Admission

Note: No test is required for admission to the Certificate Program.
