Our Commitment to Your Success

Suffolk University is proud to welcome a diverse student body with a variety of backgrounds, interests, and abilities. The University’s commitment to the success of all of our students means that we ensure full access to university programs and services. The Dean of Students Office works in collaboration with the Ballotti Learning Center, Health Services, the Counseling Center, and other departments to provide timely, comprehensive, and appropriate services to students with disabilities who are enrolled at Suffolk. If you have a learning, physical, medical, psychiatric disability, or have been diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), the University provides a range of services to accommodate your needs.   The Dean of Students Office promotes access to education and works to identify, encourage, and facilitate the academic goals of students with disabilities. We:
  • Coordinate services for students with disabilities, which includes verifying eligibility for services based on diagnostic documentation
  • Provide advocacy services
  • Provide assistance to members of the campus community in responding to disability-related issues and concerns
  • Work with the larger campus community to overcome architectural, attitudinal, and administrative barriers

Eligibility for Services

To be eligible for disability services, you must:
  • Be currently enrolled as a Suffolk University student
  • Self-identify as having a disability through the Dean of Students Office
  • Provide current, diagnostic documentation clearly identifying a disability that requires services
All diagnostic documentation and supporting materials should be sent directly to the Dean of Students Office, who reviews all documentation and determines eligibility for services. In some cases, it will be necessary to submit additional documentation prior to receiving requested services.

Diagnostic Testing

A student that suspects a learning disability, attentional disorder, or other condition that interferes with the learning process, but has yet to be tested, should contact the Dean of Students Office immediately.
