Trying to find the right college for you is a challenge for any student. There are so many questions to consider. Do they have the major I’m looking for? What’s the campus like?

As a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, or ally student, you may have additional questions. Sometimes answers may be difficult to find, or you might just not be sure what questions to ask. Below we have gathered some information about LGBT issues at Suffolk. Facts About Suffolk University

  • Suffolk University’s statement of non-discrimination includes sexual orientation and gender identity and expression.
  • Suffolk University has two LGBT student organizations:
    • Rainbow Alliance for College of Arts & Sciences and Sawyer Business School students.
    • Queer Law Alliance for Suffolk Law School students.
  • Suffolk University houses LGBT programming, support, and advocacy from the Office of Diversity Services. These events raise awareness and share the history of the LGBT community. Past events have included:
    • Welcome Reception for LGBT Students and Allies.
    • Extensive Programming for LGBT History Month each October.
    • Participation and Travel to LGBT College Conferences.
    • Day of Silence Programming in April.
    • Transgender Day of Remembrance.
  • Suffolk University has a Safe Zone Program. Since it’s inception in 2001, over 400 faculty, staff and students have become participants.
  • Suffolk University has out and open faculty and staff. In Fall 2002 Suffolk University hosted its first networking social for LGBT faculty and staff.
  • Suffolk University currently offers one Gay & Lesbian Studies course and several courses in Human Sexuality.
  • Suffolk University is conveniently located in Downtown Boston and Beacon Hill, easily accessible to LGBT restaurants, nightlife, and other friendly establishments.
  • Suffolk University offers benefits to same-sex partners of faculty and staff.
