• Things To Do Before Orientation

Register for Orientation!

Orientation and registration spaces are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Please complete the on-line registration form as soon as possible to help ensure your preferred spot and the best selection of class choices available. Families and parents of new students are encouraged to attend the Family Orientation program along with their student. If you have any orientation questions, please call the Office of Student Activities at 617.573.8320 or email us at orientation@suffolk.edu.

UAP students: turn in contact

Students who are admitted through the University Achievement Program must submit their UAP contract prior to attending orientation.  Questions should be directed to Rebecca Fiore in the Ballotti Learning Center at 617.973.5393.

Review and Submit your Health Records/Immunizations

If you do not have health insurance that meets the requirements of MA state law (QSHIP), you must enroll in the University-sponsored insurance plan. You need to waive or enroll in the insurance online at http://www.universityhealthplans.com/ (click on Suffolk University). Failure to do so by September 15 will mean that you are automatically purchasing the insurance for one year.

All full-time students must submit proof of immunizations for the following: measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR - two doeses); tetanus-diphtheria; and Hepatitis B (three doses). Students living in a residence hall must also submit proof of a meningitis vaccination. This documentation along with your health history form is due no later than August 1, 2008, in the Office of Health Services. Failure to provide documentation will result in registrations being blocked and may prevent you from being able to move into the residence hall.

A Health History and Immunization form can be downloaded from www.suffolk.edu/healthservices

NOTE: Massachusetts is currently considering expanding the immunization requirements. Please periodically check the Suffolk Health & Wellness Services webpage for updates.

Health & Wellness Services is open to all active students regardless of your insurance or how many credits you are taking. They are open Monday-Thursday 8am to 6pm and Fridays from 9am to 5pm during the academic year; and are closed on weekends and holidays. During the summer months, from mid May to mid August they are open Monday through Friday 9am to 5 pm. Please visit www.suffolk.edu/healthservices for more information.

Review your Financial Aid

Be sure to bring your award letter when paying you bill so the Bursar can easily see the Financial Aid you’ve received. If you have any questions about the financial aid process or about outside private loans, there will be a representative available during orientation from 8:45am until 6:00pm.

Sign up for SU101

SU101 is a one-credit course that is designed to enhance your first year experience and to ensure a successful transition to Suffolk University and our unique urban community. SU101 is unlike any other course because it is designed around your overall success as a student at Suffolk. This course will help you to succeed both inside and outside of the classroom. You will have an opportunity to sign up for SU101 before orientation! Look for additional information in a separate mailing, and go to www.suffolk.edu/su101 for more details and to complete an on-line interest form.
