Spring 2009 Semester - IB 550 TC2
Travel Component: Spring Break, March 14-21, 2009
Europe is undergoing many changes – politically, socially, and in the business environment. The change to a unified currency – the Euro – is fact. The enlarging of the EU to include new countries changes both the political and business landscape. This creates both great business opportunities and strong challenges.
The objective of this program is to provide students an opportunity to enhance their knowledge of current events and issues in the European Union and their understanding of the French and broader European perspective on global business strategies, management, and competitiveness. Since France, along with Germany, has been the prime mover in European integration, the overseas portion of the course will include lectures/presentations from French and other European management experts, visits to companies and institutions in the Paris area, and a day trip to Brussels with conferences at the European Commission and European Parliament. We will study US perspectives on EU- US economic relations and business opportunities.
Finally, adding greatly to our learning experience will be a number of tours and cultural visits. We will be immersed in the vibrant national and business cultures of both Paris and Brussels.
