Fall 2008 Semester - IB 550 TC1
Travel Component : January 2-11, 2009 Outsource yourself to India during Winter Break 2009!
One of the most effective ways to learn about the global economy that we operate in today is to gain experiential knowledge of a country such as India through a Global Travel Seminar. This seminar offers students the opportunity to combine classroom learning with direct business experience by visiting large multinational firms in Mumbai, "the New York of India." We will visit firms like the Tata Group of Companies, the company that recently purchased Jaguar and Land Rover; The Taj Hotels Group, that purchased the Ritz-Carlton in Boston last year; and the Godrej Group of Companies, one of the largest consumer products and home appliances company in the world. The seminar will also take students to Pune, "the Boston of India," where visits to multinational firms such as Mercedes-Benz and Bharat-Forge, the largest forging company in the world, will be combined with a visit to a major University (FLAME), giving students the opportunity to interact with students from India.
The primary objective of the seminar will be to develop working knowledge of conducting business in India, to include knowledge of the state and development of the economy; leading companies and industries; its role in the global economy; and social, cultural, and historical influences. We will also examine the economic, sociological, and legal issues that have contributed to the rise of India as a major player in the new global economy. This seminar is certain to be an exciting destination that you will not want to miss!
