Devens is a new town being created out of a former Army base in central Massachusetts. You’ll be part of Venture Strategy Team representing a business interested in locating/operating in this new community, provided you can convince local authorities that your business is sound and congruent with the Town’s character and development goals.  Your Team will have ten minutes of the undivided attention of Devens’ key real estate acquisition and development permitting decision-makers in order to make your case.  You will design a presentation strategy using the case materials and reading provided, plus the ideas and examples gained from The Top Five Things You Need to Know introduced by the earlier morning panel.
 

PREPARING:
You will receive the “Connecting Business with Government” case ahead of time, along with a variety of printed materials about the town of Devens, including information about new business developments, leasing and buy property, and the permitting process.  Please read all of these materials carefully prior to November 2 from the perspective of a business that is seeking a relocation opportunity to expand or start-up. On November 2, you will work in teams, with designated leaders/facilitators, to prepare a strategic argument supporting a moving to the Town of Devens as your new business address.
