• More than 300 fill ballroom for Inaugural Athletics Hall of Fame

The Royal Sonesta Hotel ballroom in Cambridge was filled to capacity May 10 as the Suffolk University Athletic Department and Alumni Association inducted eight individuals and two teams into the inaugural Athletics Hall of Fame.

Suffolk’s first Athletic Director and men’s basketball and baseball coach Charles Law, and current Athletic Director James Nelson, headed the list of inductees. Also inducted were:

Maureen Brown, who played women’s basketball, softball, and tennis from 1990-94;

Ellen Crotty Pistorino, who played women’s basketball and softball from 1984-88;

Donovan Little, who was a member of the men’s basketball team from 1975-79;

 Brian Horan, who played ice hockey from 1987-91;

Robert Rauseo, who played tennis from 1981-84; and

 George Doucet, a Suffolk baseball coach from 1959-1972.
 
Teams selected for induction include the 1974-75 men’s basketball team coached by Charles Law, and the 1990-91 ice hockey team coached by Bill Burns, Jr.

Paul Vaccaro, a member of the 1982-86 men’s basketball team, was the master of ceremonies for the four-hour event that included a first-rate video and slide show presentation of the University’s athletic department that began in 1941 with team in men’s tennis, golf, basketball, and baseball.
