Deadlines

Preferred Application Deadline is March 1st (fall Semester).

For students interested in Fall Enrollment, Admissions and Financial aid applications are due:

• Early Action Deadline November 15
• March 1 for Undergraduates
• December 1 for January admission (November 1 for Financial aid)

Requirements

We consider freshman applicants for admission based on the level and range of high school courses selected, grades achieved, SAT or ACT scores, recommendations and the essay. In high school, you should have completed:

• Four units of English
• Three units of mathematics (algebra I and II and geometry)
• Two units of science (at least one of which is with a lab)
• Two units of language
• One unit of American history
• Four units distributed among other college preparatory electives

We may also consider other factors in the review process, such as:

• class rank
• honors courses
• AP courses

We do not use specific minimums for scores or grades in the decision, but weigh all factors together as a whole view of you and your potential for success as a student at Suffolk University. We are also very interested in personal qualities that will offer us a complete view of you as an applicant, including:

• extracurricular involvement
• community services
• special interests

Students applying for admission to Suffolk University, as freshmen for the fall of 2008 should be aware of the following standardized testing policies:

• The SAT or ACT Writing composition portion of the exam will be reviewed and considered for use in the placement of students in classes.
• Students taking only the ACT will be required to submit the version with the optional writing section, which will be administered for the first time in February 2005. Results of previous administrations of the ACT or those that do not include the writing section will continue to meet the standardized testing requirement for admission. If the student chooses to take both the SAT and ACT, a writing sample from either the SAT or the ACT will be considered. (If you take the SAT and complete the writing sample and you choose to take the ACT, you will NOT be required to submit a writing sample for the ACT.)
• International students should review the International Admissions section for admission testing requirements.

Early Action Program

At Suffolk University, we offer the opportunity for freshman applicants to be considered for early action based on academic achievement through their junior year. The deadline for this program is November 15. Decisions are made and candidates notified by December 20. If you are not offered early action, you may be considered for later admission through the regular decision process.

Home Schooled Student: Admission Requirements

Suffolk University welcomes applications from students who have chosen home schooling. In addition to completing the standard admission application, we recommend that students forward to the Office of Undergraduate Admission the following materials:

• State certificate of completion, a high school diploma, or the GED
• List of Coursework or transcript
• Submission of an ACT or SAT I Score with the admission application
• Admission Interview (Highly Recommended)
• Essay
• Two letters of recommendation
