This program, the largest student employment program offered by Suffolk University, is awarded to full and part-time undergraduate and graduate students. Recipients are selected on the basis of demonstrated financial need. Although students may work either on or off-campus, most students prefer the flexibility of an on-campus job. Work-Study students are hired by every office and department within the University, so a wide variety of placement options are available. In addition, numerous community service placement options are available. Pay rates vary and are based upon experience, skills required and job performance. Off-campus employers may set hourly rates in conjunction with the University student pay scale policy. Work-study recipients usually work 8 - 12 hours per week during the academic year (the maximum is 20 hours a week). The Director of Student Employment provides placement assistance and an information packet is mailed to all work-study recipients during the summer, advising students of program guidelines, job availability, pay rates, etc.
