My name is Lisa, and I am a senior Radiation Biology major from a small town just outside of Boston known as Dover, MA. Having grown up just a short ride outside the city, it was not uncommon for my family and me to drive in here on weekends and walk around downtown. Every visit I had into the city was a memorable one and one that I loved. So when I came time to look at where I wanted to attend college, I knew exactly where to start.

I was told about Suffolk University through a guidance counselor in high school, and the school came highly recommended. However, I wanted to see for myself what all this praise was about. As soon as I came here to the campus for a tour, I fell in love with the location. Suffolk University’s location offers so much as a student for educational, personal, and professional resources. The more I got to look around the university, the more it became apparent to me that this was my top choice school. When I got my acceptance letter, my decision was already made. I was going to attend Suffolk University. Fast forward to today and not a day goes by that I’m not amazed with what Suffolk has to offer me.

Having been an on-campus resident in Miller Hall for the first two years of school, I feel more than privileged to have had such a beautiful building as my home while I was in school. I felt proud to be a part of a university that was both deeply rooted in its history with its location and buildings such as Donahue and Archer, but also a university that is striving to keep itself modernized. Now, I have been living off campus for 3 years and still feel just as connected to the university as before.

When it comes to academics, I can definitely relate to the majority of the students who come into the university as the infamous “undeclared” major. I was undeclared and then I decided to test out the waters in the School of Communication as an Advertising major. Doing that for a year, I began to get more of a sense of what I wanted out of my education and realized that was Advertising was not for me. I felt at ease though, being able to explore everything else the university had to offer and in fact had a hard time picking a major to focus on. I finally entered the Radiation Biology program which I can say is the smartest and most rewarding decision of my life.

Now I am involved in the Clinical Track with my major which allows me to do my clinical internship hours at Mass General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s, and Dana Farber Cancer Center. The hands on experience and the lengths that people go to teach you are amazing. I am able to work side by side with some of the top professionals in my field. I am so fortunate to be able to walk away from Suffolk with not only a degree, but job experience to build my resume, and personal experiences of working person to person with patients in the hospital. I have been able to build my career skills immensely so that I can set myself apart from other job candidates in any future interviews. Suffolk continues to surprise me every day, and it is my goal to share that with all of you. So that way, I can let other people in on what a great University it really is.
