Suffolk Student Ambassador Photo: JillianHola! My name is Jillian and I am a third year Interior Design student at The New England School of Art and Design at Suffolk University. I recently just returned from Madrid, Spain, where I spent a semester abroad at one of Suffolk’s other campuses. I can truly say that studying abroad was one of the best opportunities and experiences I have ever done and I feel so lucky to have been able to go. Suffolk University makes studying abroad an easy transition, especially because they have two more campuses other than Boston, as well as affiliates with other Universities all over the world. Living in Spain for four months opened my eyes to a different way of life, different views on the world, exposure to amazing architecture and emersion in the language. However, being abroad also made me realize how much I love Boston, and how lucky I am to have found the right school, Suffolk University.

Finding that place where you really feel like you belong is such a breakthrough and finding the school that really suits you is not only comforting, but it’s refreshing. When I had arrived in the city for the first time, while coming to visit Suffolk, I absolutely fell in love with Boston, and I knew that I had to spend my next four years of my life in such an amazing city. And when I found the New England School of Art and Design I knew Suffolk was the place for me. The professors, counselors and staff were more than willing to help me make the transition to college easy as well as the application process.

Being an art student, I really appreciate the small class sizes this school has to offer, especially in art studios, which only have 12 students. Getting to know my professors and them getting to know me and my style of work makes the classroom a place for ideas to be exchanged and personalized.

Working as a Student Ambassador is a great opportunity to learn more about the University, its amazing staff as well as the admission process. I also enjoy talking with interested students and parents on campus tours. One of the best parts of Suffolk University is its location. Located on historic Beacon Hill, Suffolk’s campus is one of the best spots in the city, where the Boston Common is our backyard. I love that Suffolk is an untraditional campus, spread out over a small portion of the city. Being a part of the city’s hustle and bustle is exciting and ever changing. There is so much to do not only at Suffolk with all of its clubs and extracurricular activities but also in Boston as well. From going to Faneuil Hall for food, walking along the harbor or through the park with friends, or cheering on the Red Sox at Fenway Park, there is never a dull moment, which only adds to why I love Suffolk University.
