Student Ambassador Picture: EmilyWhen I began my college search, in my sophomore year of high school, I had no idea what I wanted, but I found myself focusing on small town campuses. It wasn’t until late junior year that I decided that Boston was the place for me, and that I wanted to try something completely different from suburban life, so I focused my search to the city and after one tour of Suffolk University, I was sold. I immediately fell in love with the downtown location, the small class size, and campus. The people I saw all seemed happy and friendly, and I felt like this was the right place for me.

I lived in the 150 Tremont dorms for two years, and I loved it! I love the sense of community, and people and the location. My room was on the top floor and overlooked the Boston Commons, the State House, and the city skyline. I have made so many friends through the residence hall community. Now I am living in Boston’s North End, which is the Little Italy of Boston. The commute is a beautiful 20 minute walk and I love my location. I feel so lucky to get to live in such a great neighborhood in such a great city!

I have also been amazed by the academics offered, I feel comfortably challenged. I know that my professors are always willing to help me, and they know me by name which makes me feel comfortable and welcome. My classes each offer new and exciting perspectives and experiences which make learning exciting! I have had some amazing professors that have been professionals and that have their PhD, and to gain their knowledge is one of the best learning experiences you can have.

My favorite part of Suffolk University is the student activities. I became really involved by mid-fall semester my freshman year and have been hooked ever since. I started on the Program Council and became their treasurer by November of my freshman year! Last year I was the PR and advertising chair and in my junior year, I am Vice President! I have also been a Teachers Assistant for a freshman introduction to college course which is a helpful guide to a successful first year experience. I find that getting involved has been the best thing for me. I have met so many amazing people through Student Activities and have been able to attend so many unique events that complete my college experience.
